Ingleside is a not-for-profit family of Life Plan Communities and other programs located in the Washington, DC area. Inside of our communities, residents find a stress-free lifestyle, with many opportunities for engaging in the arts, wellness classes, lectures, and social activities. But more importantly, they find unique members and staff with rich life experiences who have created not just a place to live, but a true community. All three communities have an Employee Scholarship Program through the Westminster Ingleside Foundation, which is funded by current residents and supports continuing professional development.

At Ingleside you’ll be participating in an inclusive and diverse culture that values and respects each person’s dignity, strengths and contributions. You’ll be warmly welcomed into an extended Ingleside family that includes fellow staff, clients and, best of all, remarkable and amazing Ingleside residents. You’ll foster unforgettable relationships and be presented with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others through your work, and the opportunity for growth.

Scholarship Opportunities

To further our mission of creating an engaging and fulfilling environment for both residents and staff, the Ingleside Employee Scholarship Endowment Fund offers a remarkable opportunity for both full-time and part-time employees to further their professional education and development. Staff members can apply for scholarships covering a wide range of expenses, including classes, conferences, seminars, books, course materials, licensure and certification testing, and U.S. citizenship application fees. This initiative not only aims to enhance employee skills and engagement but also strengthens their relationships with residents, fostering a community of respect and continuous growth.

Scholarship Stories

ARVETTA HART

Registered Nurse

One of the more rewarding aspects of Arvetta Hart’s job as a Licensed Practical Nurse is the opportunity to form relationships across generations and see the difference good nursing care can make for residents and families. “I have the opportunity and privilege to work with people who have lived entire lives by the time I interact with them. The life experiences they’ve had and the lessons they’ve learned are invaluable. I have heard so many interesting stories and enjoy them all.” Arvetta finds it very rewarding to take care of residents while fulfilling her life’s destiny and journey as a nurse, which began at Ingleside at Rock Creek when she was 16. She was able to complete community service hours by assisting residents in wheelchairs, taking them to chapel services and meals, and reading mail to those with visual impairment. “I’ve been here for over 25 years and l love working here! I love the residents and the atmosphere of home.”

BLESSING DOH

Licensed Practical Nurse

Blessing has been with Ingleside at King Farm (IKF) from the beginning, over 12 years. She began as a Server in the Dining department and was able to advance her career to become a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA). We are fortunate that she chose to continue to share her talents at IKF. Over the years as a GNA, she moved from full time to part time but always stayed connected to IKF. She is now pursuing the next step in her career path which is studying for her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification. It is with the assistance of the Ingleside at King Farm Employee Scholarship Endowment Fund she is able to take this next step in her career and we look forward to her once again sharing her new talents. Blessing embodies the vision of Ingleside being a place where individuals can learn, grow, and advance their careers.

LISA CABRELLE DJIMGOU

Dining Team Member

Lisa Cabrelle Djimgou is a member of the dining team at Ingleside at Rock Creek (IRC) and was thrilled to receive a scholarship to help her finish her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from the University of Maryland. She previously received a scholarship to assist in completing her associate degree. “The scholarship will help me greatly in finishing my bachelor’s degree and prepare for my graduate degree,” Djimgou said. IRC resident Rita Kirshstein has been helping Djimgou by offering her college guidance services to her and IRC staff and their families at no charge. Djimgou said she’s extremely grateful for Kirshstein’s help and is grateful that Ingleside gives scholarships to employees to help them advance their careers. “I hope the scholarships help more employees achieve their career goals,” she said.

MELAKU GEBI

Registered Nurse

In 2021, Melaku Gebi was the recipient of the Ingleside at King Farm Employee Scholarship, which he used to advance his nursing education. He has more than 15 years of experience in nursing and started at IKF six years ago as an as-needed Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN). He then used his scholarship to go back to school and become a Registered Nurse (RN). He said he “loves nursing and loves [his] patients. Giving care and being a part of the healthcare team at IKF gives me satisfaction in my daily life,” Gebi said. Gebi is now a full-time RN and is receiving training from the Assistant Director of Nursing.
